APP Teacher (Accelerated Placement Program Teacher) Position Goal :
To provide teaching strategies and techniques that will enrich and expand the learning opportunity of students who demonstrate high ability and who may benefit from accelerated placement.
It is not limited to students who have been identified as gifted and talented.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Illinois teaching certificate Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of gifted and accelerated students General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to interpret data Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills The APP Teacher shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties that may be assigned by administration:
Assist in the identification of students eligible for Advanced Placement.
Recommend placement of all eligible students into appropriated academic groups for instruction.
Work with principals to schedules classes so that all identified students have a regular time to attend Advanced Placement classes.
Collaborate with the MTSS team, grade level teams, and other intervention staff as needed.
Provide leadership to the teachers of students in Advanced Placement classes in areas such as compacting curriculum, developing tiered assignments, and facilitating the design of differentiated curriculum and instruction for high achieving students.
Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
Develop and implement curriculum plans for the Advanced Placement classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth and development by attending meetings, workshops, conferences, and continuing education classes related to Advanced Placement.
Remain current on effective teaching practices, techniques, and learning strategies, literature, new research findings, technology, and data collection.
